Marvel’s Jessica Jones had a strong season one debut on Netflix. Critics loved that it wasn’t a traditional superhero series, but more about the effects of post traumatic stress disorder in a world that happened to be inhabited by powered people. Following season one, the reviews and audience response became a bit more mixed as Jessica’s world expanded. In fact, when examining the series through the lens of the Internet Movie Database, it’s clear that the first season was the fan favorite as the episodes have higher ratings than season two and three....

Joker was released earlier in October and has been the talk of the town. Most love its unique portrayal of the iconic villain, but some viewers and critics were unimpressed by the gritty take. Everybody agreed upon Joaquin Phoenix’s performance being pure fire, however, and also appreciated the movie’s willingness to do something different with a comic book property. This version of Gotham was designed to look like New York City in the early ’80s....

Bridesmaids will go down in cinema history as one of the funniest movies to ever be released. It has everything from a stellar cast to glorious improvisation and it is topped off with an unstoppable energy that cannot be beaten. Since 1981, Indiana Jones has been a popular, cultural figure. Michael Scott is a veritable cornucopia of inane babble. Every time he opens his mouth pure gold flows forth. Whether he’s giving an employee horrible advice or confusing commonly used idioms he makes The Office all the richer for his insanity. It’s difficult to say which is the best quote in a line up of Michael’s quips. Sometimes he fills us with hope and wonder, sometimes he leaves us baffled but he always leaves us smiling....

You’d be hard-pressed to find too many real flaws in The Wire’s five seasons. Even at its worst, this is still great television. Season five isn’t on the same level as its four predecessors, but it’s still a thematically satisfying conclusion to the series that manages to wrap the story up rather nicely. That said, while season five is great in comparison to other television, there is a reason fans find it disappointing....

The Netflix series The OA is one of the most intriguing, thoughtful and psychologically challenging shows that the streaming service has ever released on its platform, which is really saying a lot. Sadly The OA was just canceled after its season two release, and the show left off with way more questions than answers. But now we’re officially left with what we already have, so we might as well enjoy what we got and be grateful that we got any of The OA at all....
